Charles (Charlie) L. Davis

Charles (Charlie) L. Davis Charlie Davis, age 81, passed away peacefully at his Tallmadge, Ohio home on August 3, 2017 following a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Andover, NY, the son of Leo and Mabel Davis, he spent nearly 60 years in the Akron area. After graduating Andover Central School, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering at Tufts University. Charlie worked 35 years for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Polymer Research and retired from Shell Oil Company in 1998. Charlie was fortunate to find love twice, marrying Linda (Watral) Davis and later Penny (Nash) Davis. He was an active and beloved member of Mogadore United Methodist Church serving as Head Usher and on numerous committees, and adopted a love of the Tamburitzan music community. Charlie was an avid golfer, master do-it-yourselfer/tinkerer and griller; and loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cavs, Indians and Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed many travels with Penny including trips to the Olympics in Europe; cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean; and countless Tamburitzan events throughout the country. When younger, he also enjoyed running, boating and water skiing. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Linda; son, Scott; brother, Louie; sisters, Marjorie and Maxine, and second wife, Penny. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Jerry) Weber of Charlotte, NC; stepdaughters, Lynette and Cindy Dimitroff of Akron; stepson, Michael (Joan) Pavlic of Cleveland; grandsons, Evan Pavlic and Joey Raffaele; brother, Richard; sister, Agnes; brothers-in-law, Loren (Jeri) Watral, Raymond “Sonny” Nash Jr., Mike Nash, Ron (Tina) Nash; and dear friends, Steve and Elaine Mraz. Friends and family will be received Friday, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. Funeral Service will be Saturday, 10 a.m. at Mogadore United Methodist Church, 3828 Mogadore Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260 with Rev. Pamela Gable officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
