Charles E. Boggs, age 89, went home to be with the Lord September 18, 2013.
Born in Creston, W. Va., he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from Akron Brick and Block. Charlie enjoyed working on and showing antique cars, and was a member of the Akron Chargers.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalene, and sons, Chuck and Michael; he is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Cora; stepsons, Lanny (Susie) Meadows, Jerry Meadows and Steve (June) Meadows; stepdaughter, Connie (Gary) Smith; daughter-in-law, Judith Boggs; grandchildren, Allen Boggs, Marty Boggs and Jason Boggs; great-grandson, Ethan Boggs; nine stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; two stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and dear friends, Gary and Sheila James.
Funeral service will be Friday, 2 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Mr. Henry Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until service time.
