Chanie M. Witherspoon

Chanie M. Witherspoon was called home to be with the Lord on April 17, 2013.

She was born in Boone, North Carolina on May 28, 1931. Chanie worked in the retail business for JC Penney and Gold Circle, and attended Shoreline Community Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. Cooking, gardening and spending time with family and friends were some of her favorite pastimes. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and new great-grandchild. Chanie was quick with a smile and a kind word. Her loss will be felt by many.

Chanie was preceded in death by husband, Joe; grandson, Brian; daughter Sheri Moore; and son, Keith. She is survived by long-time special friend, Don Powell; sons, Ric (Karen) and Mark (Jasmin); daughter-in-law, Dottie Witherspoon; grandchildren, Andy Jones, Heather (David) Meeks, Mark Jr., Michael; and great-grandson, Davey. Sundays, green beans and the clematis vine will not be the same without her – but we will find comfort knowing that she is with family that went too soon, in the arms of the Lord.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, Uniontown, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.), where funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m., Pastor Scott Campbell officiating.
