Catherine Knapp (Begue) of Randolph, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2024 at the age of 91.
Katie was born October 11, 1932 to Ellen and Charles Begue.
Katie was a woman filled with love and her heart grew with each person she met. She knew no stranger and made everyone feel like they belonged. Friends and family would stop by just to chat, knowing Katie would always welcome them with an infectious smile, serving up delicious homemade pies, and offerings of fresh vegetables from her and Dick’s garden.
As a young woman Katie had the perfect job that matched her personality when she worked at Goodyear, in the employee activity department. After marrying Dick, on May 27, 1955, she began her most satisfying vocation; which was raising her 9 children.
Katie thrived when she spent time with others at holiday parties and dances. She relished time spent with her community at St. Joseph’s Church. Katie supported the community while working church rummage sales and festivals. She emulated Christ by living out her convictions through volunteering for the food bank, right to life, and altar society. She loved to host card parties, read and make people laugh to bring them joy. She was quick to listen, and imparted her wisdom such as, “Do your best and God will take care of the rest”.
Above all Katie was known to many as the most beautiful and loving lady they knew; because of her gentle heart and a warm smile. An ill word was never heard from her voice…about anyone!
Katie was preceded in death by Ellen and Charles Begue, her husband Richard Knapp and her 9 siblings.
Katie is survived by her 9 children Rick Knapp (Sue), Dianna Knapp, Beth (Jim) Breiding, Peggy (Brian) Pavlak, Joan Knapp, Thomas Knapp, Lisa (Jeff) Teeple, Tina (John) Byers and Scott (Kerri) Knapp. Katie will be missed by children, 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Katie’s family is forever grateful to Dr. Mark Smith for his compassion and care, as well as the many caregivers and medical professionals who assisted her.
