Carolyn Marie Martin, 69, passed away July 28, 2013.

She was born July 20, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio and lived most of her life in the Mogadore area. Carolyn graduated from St. Joseph Commercial High School in Dayton in 1962 and later graduated from the University of Dayton. She devoted her life to Catholic education and inspiring children to learn. Her first teaching job was at Ascension School in Kettering, Ohio. While raising her children, Carolyn returned to school and graduated from the University of Akron with her Bachelor’s degree in education. In 2009, she retired from St. Joseph School after 26 years of service where she served as both teacher and principal. Carolyn loved to travel, shop, play cards, garden and spend time with her beloved family and lifelong friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marie (Neal) Drummer; and brothers, Robert “Bob”, John “Jack”, Jerome “Jerry” and James “Jim”. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years in August, Bob; Children, Brad (Julie) Martin, Jodi (Andrew) Wages and Shannon (Chuck Whetsell) Jarvis; grandchildren, Danny, Leah, Drew, Alex, Carly and Lucy; sisters, Charlene Cochran, Maryann Gilmore (Dennis Izzo), Ethel Drummer and Roselyn Miller; in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Friends may call at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Avenue (Route #532), Mogadore, Ohio 44260 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m Wednesday where wake services will be conducted 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260 with Father Thomas Acker, S.J. presiding. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph School, 2617 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, Ohio 44260.
