Carol A. Thayer (Mangold), age 75, passed away on August 23, 2016.
Born in Cleveland, she grew up in South Euclid and spent the last 13 years in Stow. Carol graduated from Brush High School, attended Miami of Ohio, graduated from UCLA, and received her Masters from John Carroll University. She retired from Eastlake North High School where she was employed as a Guidance Counselor. Carol was a member of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, and was a voracious reader. She also enjoyed travel, boating and volunteering at the Akron Zoo. Carol and her husband were proud to have stepped foot on all seven continents.
Preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Mangold; and brother, Donald, she is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dean; nieces, Diana Dilisio of Madison, Ohio and Jessica Wang of Los Angeles, Calif.; nephews, Mark Mangold of Tampa, Fla., Kyle Thayer of Seattle, Wash., Brian and Nathan Larson, both of Loveland, Colo.; numerous great-nieces and –nephews; father-in-law, John Thayer of Loveland, Colo.; brother-in-law, Larry (Ellen) Thayer; and sister-in-law, Linda (Ron) Larson, all of Fort Collins, Colo.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Oak Hill Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brian T. Nutt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, 2406 Ardwell Avenue, Akron, OH 44312; or the Akron Zoo, 500 Edgewood Avenue, Akron, OH 44307.
