Carol Yvonne (Clark) Neighbour, age 90, of Hartville, Ohio, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 26, 2023, after a courageous nine-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
She was born on June 11, 1933, in Zanesville, IN, and graduated from Ossian High School (Ossian, IN). She loved her Lord and Savior most of all, and lovingly raised her four children to know and follow Christ. She loved her family, as well as working with her husband in all of their family businesses including professional photography, their professional color lab, and Good Neighbour Christian Bookstore (in Elyria and Green, OH). Carol was a very creative and gifted artist, designing the architecture of several of their homes and additions. Her interests and activities throughout the years included teaching Bible studies and Sunday School, gardening, growing orchids, tole painting, oil painting, colored pencil drawing, English smocking, sewing, cooking, baking, and watching “The Great British Baking Show.” Prior to moving to The Homestead, Carol participated by invitation in a PSP research study through University Hospital and Case Western Reserve to help with future diagnosis of PSP and other neurological movement disorders. Carol was an active member of Church of the Open Door (Elyria, OH) for many years prior to moving to the Akron area, where she became an active member of The Chapel for many more years. Most recently, she attended Grace Church (Norton, OH) with her daughter’s family, prior to moving to The Homestead (GentleBrook) in Hartville, OH.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Neighbour; infant daughter, Nancy Joan Neighbour; parents, Robert A. Clark and Ruth L. (Abbott) Clark; and brothers, Robert Clark and Harold Clark. She is survived by sons, David Neighbour (Mary), William Neighbour (Tammy), Robert Neighbour (Rhonda); daughter, Shirley (Neighbour) Shbeeb (Sami); grandchildren, Eric, Amanda, Emily, Jonathan, Jordan, Evan, Danielle, David, Matthew, Benjamin, Hannah, and Victoria; 10 great-grandsons; sister, Sharon (Clark) Bruns (Jim); brother-in-law, Ralph W. Neighbour, Jr. (Ruth); sisters-in-law, Carol Jane Neighbour and Liz Clark; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Special thanks and gratitude to all of Carol’s caregivers in her home, including Kymberly, Bethany, McKenzie, Hannah and Emily; all her loving caregivers, nurses, staff, and physicians at: The Homestead (GentleBrook); Western Reserve Hospital; Traditions Health Home Hospice; as well as Dr. Roswell Dorsett, D.O., and Dr. Clayton Seiple, D.O., and their staff.
