Carol June (Schneider) Koontz, age 85, passed away early Tuesday morning on March 31, 2021, after spending the last days surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Ray and Edna Schneider, sister of Gail Rollence and Janet Schneider; all have preceded her in death.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, the family moved to Greensburg, Ohio in the mid-1940s, where she graduated from Greensburg High School in 1954. Carol went into the Akron City Nursing School where she worked throughout the years in the Akron City and Akron General Hospitals. She continued to work while raising her family in Green and spent years volunteering in the Green school system and was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church. Carol spent her time rooting for the Cleveland Browns, watching her favorite musicals, reading, and keeping track of NASCAR races from Akron and Virginia Beach.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathleen (Koontz) Davis, Michael Koontz, Danny Koontz, and Karen Koontz; niece Chris Kopriver and husband Mike; nephew James Rollence and wife Lora; great niece Kaitlyn (Brandon) Schleis; grandchildren Karly Meyers and husband Morgan, Nathan Davis and wife Elise, Jason Koontz, and Tyler Koontz; great-grandchildren Luke and Rayna Meyers; former spouse Dan Koontz; and many more cousins and lifelong friends.
Friends and family will be received Saturday May 1st, 2021 at 11:00 Am at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Avenue), UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685. Funeral service will be held immediately following with Reverend Katie Osier officiating. Burial will take place at East Liberty Cemetery in Green after the service.
