Carl H. Nuzum, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2017 and went home to be with the Lord after a long illness.
He was born in Fairmont, W. Va. to J. Dallas and Pearl Nuzum and had lived in the Akron area all of his life. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving during World War II, and retired from GenCorp after many years of service. He was a devout Christian and faithful member of Southeast Church of the Nazarene. Carl enjoyed playing on many church baseball leagues over the years and he also loved to play golf. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and especially enjoyed attending family reunions.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Edith; brothers, Raymond, Albert, Richard and Paul; and foster daughter, Ruth Buker, he is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lois; son, Duane (Janet); step-children, Lynn (Gary) Parker and Carol (Terry) Hamilton; granddaughter, Monya (Eric) Garnett; other step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Ray. Carl will be deeply missed by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, 12 noon, at Southeast Church of the Nazarene, 771 Dunbar Road, Tallmadge, OH 44278 with Pastor Steven Salyers officiating. Family and friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. The family suggests memorials to his church at the address above.
