Calvin E. Eyre, Jr., 58, passed away February 20, 2012. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for two years and never complained.
Born in Ravenna, he lived in the Suffield/Randolph area all of his life. Calvin reached Eagle Scout level in Boy Scouts, and was a graduate of Field High School. He was a truck driver for 41 years, last working with Dependable Transport, and was great friends with the owner, Lonnie McElcar. Calvin was also employed by the Randolph Fire Department, where he reached the rank of Captain during his 22 years of service. He enjoyed NASCAR, music, camping, the company of family and friends, scuba diving and airplane technology.
Preceded in death by his parents, Calvin E. Eyre Sr. and Audrey (Sellman) Eyre; and father-in-law, Frederick Wile. He is survived by his loving wife and life partner, LaDawn; son, Jeremy Sands; daughters, Stacy Eyre. Kristy Eyre and Jessica Sands; grandchildren, Olivia, Eathen, Andrew, Elizabeth, Sammy and Adyson; father-in-law, David B. Butcher; mother-in-law, Barbara Wile; brother, Richard (Kathy) Eyre; and sisters, Patricia Rucker and Carolyn Naso.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, 1:30 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland Ave., MOGADORE 44260, with Father James Lang officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 Noon until the service at 1:30 p.m.
