Rev. Budd L. Sprague, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on March 18, 2018.
Born in Beverly, Ohio, he lived most of his life in northeast Ohio. Budd graduated from Beverly High School, Marietta College and Methesco Theological Seminary. He served in both the E.O.C and W.O.C. of the United Methodist Church until his retirement in 2000. Budd also served on the Good News Board, the Confessing Movement and was also instrumental in the forming of “Youth Musicale” in 1973. When he was able, Budd loved traveling, golfing, boating and trains. Above all, Budd loved his family, the church and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Madge Budd Sprague; sister, Donna Stockdale; daughters, Deborah Pettit of Keller, Texas and Miriam Gray of Ada, Ohio; he is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Carole Snyder Sprague; sons, Michael of Uniontown, Ohio, Stephen (Teresa) of Bedford, Texas; stepson, Bruce (Cindi) George; stepdaughters, Pam Vargo (Mike Balser) and Nancy Arends, all of Springfield Twp., Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Leila Norris of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A service of celebration will be held Saturday, 1 p.m., at Dueber United Methodist Church, 645 Dueber Ave. S.W., Canton, Ohio 44706, with Dr. Chet Harris officiating. Family and friends are welcome two hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The family suggests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or stjude.org/memorial.
