Bill E. Lakins

Bill E. Lakins, 73, passed away February 28, 2014.

Born in Akron, Ohio, Bill was a lifetime area resident and was self-employed in the home building/construction industry. Bill was a member of E.A.A.A. in the 70’s, he was involved in Ellet Youth Football from 1970 to 1982 and was a fixture on the Ellet High School Football Sidelines.

Preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Nancy in 2000; and Rosalyn Burton in 2012; Bill is survived by his son, Perry (Denise) of Akron; daughter, Sharon Cummings (Mike Sands) of Akron; grandchildren, Jeff, Laura, Cory, Craig and Joey; sisters, Dorothy Montgomery and Peggy (Dick) May; and special friends, Nancy Rouser, Carolyn Austin; and his dog and donut buddy, Izick.

The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312. A graveside service will be conducted at Hillside Memorial Park Tuesday, at 3 p.m. Bill enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and had requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ellet Volleyball or Ellet Softball Programs in care of Bill’s son, Perry Lakins, 537 Herbert Street, Akron, Ohio 44312.
