Betty Jo Vance

Betty Jo Vance, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on May 25, 2021. With a smile that could light a room and cooking that would forever keep you coming back for more; Betty’s faith, love, and goodness were felt by anyone in her presence whether she showed you with a big hug or a slice of pie. She loved her family completely and unconditionally and she could cut a rug like no other. Preceding her death were her parents and siblings: Genevieve “Sis” Mosley, Jack Phillips, and Jim Simmons; and her granddaughter, Sarah McCartney. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Samuel Vance and her children: Pat and Bob McCartney, Chris and Bobby Leonard, Jackie Davis, Kellie and Brian Gardinier, and Michael and Jenny Vance; grandchildren: Jay Shultz (Faith), Tia Winter (Adam), Rachel Rhodes (Steve), Adam Vargas (Jenelle), Samuel McCartney (Brianna), Michael Vance Jr.; and great-grandchildren: Vance, Avery, Charlie, Henry, Zyler, and Ryker. A memorial service honoring Betty’s life will be held at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home at 547 Canton Rd Akron, Ohio 44312 on Saturday, May, 29 2021 at 2:00 pm. Visitation for friends and family will occur one hour prior. Due to COVID, masks and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
