Betty M. Stotlar (nee Mapes)

Betty M. Stotlar, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on October 23, 2014.

Betty was born in Chardon on November 2, 1935 to the late Kenneth and Nettie Mapes. She grew up in Chesterland, and lived in the Akron area for the past 25 years. Betty was a dedicated teacher, retiring after many years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening. Betty and her husband, Robert built 12 homes together over the years. She was a member of Millheim Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert in 2007; and her son, Dale in 1994. She is survived by daughters, Janice and Mary Lynn; sisters, Mary Ann and Donna; brother, David; grandchildren, Dale Jr., Julie and Jason; and her beloved dog, Bella.

The family will receive friends Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at Millheim Baptist Church, 2661 Hayne Road, Akron, Ohio 44312 with Pastor K.W. Lawrence officiating. Additional visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Uniontown Greenlawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to her church.
