Betty Jane Bryte, age 76, of Rootstown, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on March 12, 2017.
Betty was born on March 25, 1940 in Sebring, Ohio, to the late William McIlvain and Irene Manas. She graduated from Sebring High School, was a homemaker, worked at various retirement facilities, and was a longstanding member and deacon of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine McIlvain; and daughter-in-law, Lori Bryte (nee Harsh); Betty is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Melvin E. Bryte; children, Karen (Loren) Noel, Pamela (Dr. Mark) Hirko, and Greg (Emily) Bryte; grandchildren, Sean and Grant Francis, Geoffrey and Marie Hirko, and Kelsey, Seth, Cole and Sage Bryte; great grandchildren, Noah, Sean Jr., and Josh Francis.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, March 16th, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral service will be Friday, March 17th, 10:30 a.m., at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 420 S. Prospect Street, Ravenna, Ohio 44266. Private burial for immediate family will follow at Homeland Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Betty’s church.
