Benjamin "Ben" Surblis, age 85, passed away on March 5, 2025. He was born in Akron and resided in Green. Ben attended Kenmore High School and the University of Akron. He retired from Akron Public Schools after 30 years of dedicated service.
Ben was a devoted member and past elder of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, and an active participant in the Briar Hill Hunting and Fishing Club. He found joy in riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers, hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Emily Surblis. Ben is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Nancy; son Ben (Denise) Surblis; daughter Beth (Jeff) Ogg; grandchildren Stephanie (Nic), Emily (Colton), Casey (Craig), Tyler (Jordan), Kyle (Emily), Nate (Chelsy), and Natalie (Jimmy); great-grandchildren Ryder, Max, Trevor, Finley, Jack, Avery, Finn, Archie, and Casen; nephews Kevin, Keith, and Jeff. A special thank you to niece Karen for her loving support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oak Hill Presbyterian Church or Briar Hill Hunting and Fishing Club, 73130 Briar Hill Rd. Piedmont, OH 43983.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, OH 44312. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 10, at Oak Hill Presbyterian Church, with calling hours beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 10:30 a.m.
