Barbara A. Williams

Barbara A. (Lynch) Williams, 90, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2023.

She was born on August 23, 1932, in Akron, to Verne and Ruth Lynch, and was a lifelong resident of the Akron/ Springfield area. Her primary education was completed in Springfield, and she graduated from Springfield High School. Barbara was a studious woman, and she continued her education at The University of Akron, notably as a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. After graduating from The University of Akron, Barbara gained employment with Goodyear as a Secretary where her love for lists and task keeping shone bright!

Her dedication to her community was evident through her membership with the 50+ Alumni Associates of Springfield, The Greater Akron Alumni Association, and 40 years of volunteering at E.J. Thomas Hall. Her adoration for music and service to her community was also captured through her volunteering with the B.J. Singers, a local musical group that provided entertainment frequently to the community’s senior groups. Undoubtedly one of Barbara’s most memorable contributions, though, was her passion and dedication to God and her Church- North Springfield Presbyterian. She was a 77- year member of North Springfield. She served her church and the Lord as an Elder, Clerk of Session, angelically performed with the Chancel and Handbell Choirs, and served with the Presbyterian Women.

Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Frank. She is survived by her son, Eric (Linda); grandchildren, Julie (Jason), and Scott (Ashley); great-grandsons, Eric, Evan, Kato, and baby Jonah due to arrive this November. Her legacy also lives on through her brother-in-law, Jerry Williams; sister-in-law, Lorraine Williams, innumerable cousins, nieces, nephews, and her beloved cat, Nikki.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Thursday, September 7^th at North Springfield Presbyterian Church- 671 Canton Rd. Akron, OH, 44312. Friends and family will be welcomed for visitation starting at 11am with a service beginning at noon, and a luncheon following. Final interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s wish was donations being made in her honor to her cherished church, North Springfield Presbyterian.
