Barbara Jean Makowski, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2016.
Born in Knoxville, Tenn., she lived in Massillon, Ohio most of her life. Barbara was a homemaker and a member of Woodlawn Church. She enjoyed going to church, spending time with her family, cooking and baking.
Barbara had a gift for making people feel loved and important. She was cherished by everyone and held a special place in their hearts. Her faith in Jesus her Savior was evident in every area of her life. She was admired not only for her classy beauty on the outside, but she radiated a loving beauty from her heart.
Preceded in death by her husband, Edmund and sister, Mary, she was loved by her daughters, Kathy (Russ) Bloom, Deborah (Ken) Wood; her grandchildren, Deborah (Chris) Baldwin, Shawn (Julie) Bloom, Mike (Kimberly) Bloom and Josh Wood; great-grandchildren, Andrea, Ally, Lauren, Rusty, Kate, Ava, Stone and Mikey; and sister, Hilda Anderson.
The family would like to thank Dr. Donald Zimmerman for the many years of his sweet loving and excellent care. A special thank you to her favorite nurse, Brenda and the entire staff at his office for all of their tender compassion.
Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Woodlawn Church, 2800 Woodlawn Avenue NW, Canton, OH 44708, with Pastor Matt Coutcher officiating. There will be visitation at the church from 11 a.m. until service time.
