Barbara A. Bennett (Nee McDonald) passed peacefully early December 19th surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born June 4th 1935 in Akron, Ohio to Raymond and Frieda McDonald. She was the youngest of seven siblings.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years Jerome L. Bennett, children Joseph (Linda) Bennett, John Bennett, Jerome (Nancy) Bennett Jr., Kimberly Bennett, grandchildren Jessica (Alex) Wilson, Veronica Lindsey and Austin Lindsey.
Barbara worked 41 years managing Circle K’s and enjoyed many of her regulars and coworkers. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her family especially her grandchildren.
After retirement, when she said goodbye to her scratch-off lottery hobby, she fell in love with assembling puzzles and spent countless hours with her close friend Charlotte Calderone finding the pieces. When they tired of that, they would join Jerome at the table for competitive games of Rummy. Despite not winning every game she always looked glamorous thanks to her lifelong friend and hairstylist Karen Axline.
Her most cherished quality was her love for everyone around her. She always put her loved ones first. Most of her final hours were spent reminding us to take care of her lifelong love and each other.
Mom is in our hearts and loved forever. Rest in Peace.
As per Barbara’s wishes, she chose cremation and no service will be held. A family celebration of life will be held at a future date.
Special Thanks to Crossroads Hospice (Stephanie) and the Akron General ER staff for their care and sympathy for our mother.
