Audrey Thorburn

Audrey Thorburn “Sis”, age 85, passed away September 19, 2013.

Born in Akron on January 18, 1928, she resided in Uniontown all of her life. Audrey enjoyed spending time with her loving family. She was an active lady who admired the beauty of nature and loved tending to her gardens. She enjoyed playing a good game of golf and traveling. Audrey volunteered at Akron City Hospital and was an usher at E.J. Thomas Hall. She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Uniontown.

Preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Donald, and parents, Lawrence and Eleanor Smith, she is survived by son, John (Susan) Thorburn; daughter, Terri (John) Sabo; and grandchildren, Brittany and Kyle Thorburn, Valerie Carr (Sabo), Heather and Michele Sabo. Audrey was also a loving sister to Lynn (Brant) and husband, Marvin Ford; and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and faithful companion, Buddy the cat.

Funeral service will be Monday, 10 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312, with Pastor Bob Cheyney Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
