Arthur R. Jochum

Arthur R. “Art” Jochum, Jr., 83, passed away November 18, 2013.

Born in Akron, Arthur lived in the Green area most of his life. He graduated from Hower Vocational School and served in the Army during the Korean War. Art retired from AT&T/Western after 40 years of employment and enjoyed watching all sports but his favorite was Ohio State.

Preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Nancy M. Jochum; father, Arthur R. Jochum Sr.; mother, Freida Sutherland; brother, Frank Jochum, sister, Anna Mae Watson; he is survived by son, Scott Jochum of Smyrna, Ga.; daughters, Karen Smith of Manchester, Oh. and Kathy (John) Bowen of Ashburn, Va.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Todd) Sabin, Julie and Alison Smith, Matthew and Michael Bowen; great granddaughter, Sawyer Sabin; brother, Richard (Marianne) Jochum; sisters, Irene Ball and Jo (Bob) Kidd; sisters-in-law, Donna Jochum and Mary Alice Smith.

Memorial service Wednesday, 12 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44312. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
