Arlene Lane McDougall, 90, passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 24, 2012.
A long time resident of Akron and Hartville, she was born in Akron on November 1, 1921 to James and Grace Mattes. Arlene was a charter member of the Akron Mothers of Twins, and the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs, serving as editor, treasurer and president. She retired from Akron University as secretary/office manager in the Urban Studies Department.
Preceded in death by husbands, Raymond Lane and Richard "Mac" McDougall; and brother, Kenneth Mattes; she is survived by her children, Martha (Ben) Ginnetti, Mark (Carol) Lane, Jim (Pat) Lane, Gail (Rick) Tindall, bruce (Rane') Lane; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Arlene had great pride in her family and welcomed each grandchild with joy. She was a strong, loving woman who overcame many illnesses in life and was definitely an inspiration to all of her loved ones. The memories she has given us will always be cherished.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown, Ohio 44685, with Father David Durkee celebrating. Burial will take place at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Hartville. Friends may call at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St., Uniontown 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
