Ardath I. Wise

Ardath I. Wise, age 94, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on December 23, 2014.

Born in Mogadore on August 10, 1920 to Chester and Jessie Wise, she lived in Mogadore most of her life. Ardath graduated from Mogadore High School then attended Cleveland School of the Arts, transferred to Western Reserve for education courses, and received her degree from Kent State. While living and teaching school in Alexandria, Va. she applied and was hired to teach military personnel children in Japan during the Korean War, spending seven years in that country.

On her return, she taught three years in Akron, then one year in Mogadore, in 1968. During her retirement she has continued her involvement with the arts, painting in different mediums, drawing, writing poems, articles and a novel. Being from a musical family, Ardath owned several dulcimers and enjoyed playing and singing her own songs. At the age of 94, she presented her talents in painting at an art show at the Akron Art Museum. She was a dear friend to many. We will miss her, and remember her with love.

Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joseph, Burdette and David Wise; sisters, Miriam Andrews, Esther Crooks and Ruth Raddish, she is survived by sister, Judith Wise Brindel; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Summa Akron City Hospital, and her doctor, Mark A. Smith for their loving care of Ardath.

Because she was active in the Mogadore Historical Society for many years with much joy, memorial contributions may be made to them at 135 S. Cleveland Avenue, Mogadore, Ohio 44260. It was Ardath’s wish to be cremated and have no services.
