Angelo “Buster” Rizzo, age 90, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2018 at his residence.
Buster was a lifelong Akron resident and a graduate of Garfield High School. He also attended The University of Akron, where he played football. Buster served in the U.S. Army and returned to work at the Akron Beacon Journal where he retired after 33 years. He played fast pitch softball from 1954 – 1969. In 1988 he was inducted into the Akron Amateur Softball Commission Hall of Fame.
Preceded in death by his wife, Inez; daughter, Debbie; brother, Lou; sister, Marguerite; and way too many friends to mention. He is survived by his children, Ross Rizzo, Robin (Steve) Williams, Ronald, Daniel, Marc (Tricia) Rizzo, Kimberly (Gary) Chandler and Kris Rizzo; 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Asera Care Hospice.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Private services will be held by the family at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Summit County Humane Society in memory of his best friend, Mattie.
