Andrew C. Horning

Andrew Horning (Andy), 93 years, passed away on June 17, 2024. 

Andy was born and raised on a dairy farm in Atwater. After graduating from Randolph High School, he trained at DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago IL. After returning from Chicago, he was employed in the TV repair field. He worked for RCA as a repairman and opened Andy’s Radio and TV Repair. He then joined the United States Army and was stationed in Okinawa Japan as a Field Radio Mechanic during the Korean War. Upon returning to civilian life, he met and married Janet Knapp. They raised their family in Randolph while he worked at Akron Standard as a Production Electrician and retired after close to 34 years of service. Andy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mogadore, St. Joseph Knights of Columbus Council 2039, and Catholic War Veterans Our Lady of Lourdes Post 1325. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed.

Preceded in death by his wife, Janet; daughter, Mary; Mother and Father, Mary and Albert; brothers Mark (Marilyn), Larry (Gheri), and Bill (Jean); sisters Agnes, Ev (Rich), and Clara (Bob). He is survived by his daughters Lynn (Jeff) Kelley and Liz (Bill) Berger Jr.; grandchildren, Dean (Zay) Kelley and Brianne (Chandler) Klinck; brother Tony (Ruthe) Horning, sister Sister Yvonne Horning O.P., and great friends Wayne and Diane Luke. 

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, July 1, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Rd., Mogadore, Ohio 44260 with Father Kevin Bertleff celebrating. Procession will originate at the church. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, June 30, from 2 to 5 P.M. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44312.
