Alvin Lee Moutz

Alvin Lee Moutz, age 89, passed away September 13, 2013, with his family at his side.

Alvin was a resident of Mogadore for more than 50 years before moving to the City of Green. While living in Mogadore he was an active member of the Mogadore Methodist Church, serving as a trustee and other church offices. He was also an active member of the Mogadore Lions Club #300, serving in all executive offices. Alvin served on the Mogadore Village Council for three times as a councilman.

Alvin attended Springfield High School and graduated from the University of Akron. He began his career in Real Estate and joined the Akron Area Board of Realtors in 1952. He was a retired member of the American Institute of Appraisers with a Senior Residential designation, and was a past president of Akron Toastmasters. Alvin was a member of Coventry Lodge 665, a 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite Valley of Akron and Yusef Khan Grotto. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Alvin met and married his wife of 67 years, Juanita. They traveled extensively to more than 50 countries.

He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Jerry and Bernard; and son-in-law, Phillip Mauldin. In addition to leaving his wife, Juanita, he is survived by his children, Janice Mauldin of Akron, Richard (Sandra) Moutz of Charleston, S.C., Diane (Gene) Belmonte of Tallmadge, and Kimberly (Jay) Folickman of Pickerington, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Bonnie Johnson of Madison, Wis.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.), with Rev. Karen Hartley officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
