Alverda L. Lancaster
Alverda L. Lancaster, age 75, went home to be with the Lord on January 20, 2019 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
She was born and raised in Kitzmiller, MD, and made her home in Springfield Township, where she lived most of her life. Alverda retired from McDonalds after many years as a manager. Alverda attended the Mogadore Baptist Church. She enjoyed dancing and slot machines but her favorite activity was spending time with her precious grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Virginia Pyle, and her loving husband of 53 years, Charles. Alverda is survived by sisters, Kathleen and Peggy; brothers, Cecil (Ann) and John (Nancy); sons, Terry (Linda) and Gary (Lisa); daughter, Stacie (Bret) Pendergast; grandchildren, Courtney, Corwin, Drew, Gabbi, and Brandi; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Alverda’s family would like to give special thanks to her loving caregivers Jenny, Jane, and the staff from Visiting Angels.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, JANUARY 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. There will be a closing prayer with Pastor Rob Seymour at the conclusion of visitation. A Memorial service will be held in the spring (the date will be announced closer to service time), and burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery following the springtime memorial service. The family suggests memorials to the Ronald McDonald House of Akron, 245 Locust Street, Akron, OH 44302.
