Russell J. Dizdar, age 65, went home to be with the Lord on October 17, 2021.
Born in Akron, Ohio, Russell eventually settled in Canton where he studied at Malone College. Throughout his life, he was active in his Faith; pastoring Calvary Community Fellowship from the early 90’s until 2007 and ministering to others through Shatter the Darkness for over 30 years.
When Russell wasn’t found behind the pulpit he could be spotted out riding his Indian motorcycle or squirreled away at his desk writing. He loved spending time with his family and grandchild, who gave him his favorite title of Deda. Russell loved good food, with some of his favorites being Thai, steak, and ribs. He was an excellent speaker who enjoyed spreading the Good News to anyone who would listen. Above all Russell was selfless. He went out of his way to help others regardless of what the situation was. Though he will be missed, his memory will live on in those he aided in this life.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 41 years, Shelly Dizdar; daughter, Charity (Jake); grandchild, Eisley Jane; brothers, Dan (Lisa) Michaels and Nick Dizdar; sister, Vicki Michaels; and nephew, Chris Dizdar. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Joan.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 6th at 7 p.m. at 3rd Street Church, 1253 3rd St. SE Canton, OH 44707. All are welcome to a dinner being held before the service at 6 p.m.
